Banta Announces Funding for Local Water Authority

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jake Banta (R-Erie) announced today that the North East Borough Water Authority received a drinking water infrastructure low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).

“PENNVEST funding offers assistance to our local governments to improve the safety and quality of life for our communities,” shared Banta. “I am proud to have advocated for this funding and to see it increase the availability and quality of drinking water.”

The funding provided to the North East Borough Water Authority will be used to replace 2,000 feet of waterline, valves and hydrants in the borough. The loan will also support the installation of emergency generators, replacing raw water pumps and installing covers at the treatment plant, and installing a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system at the treatment plant.
