Banta to Host Scam and Identity Theft Seminar

ERIE – Rep. Jake Banta (R-Erie), in partnership with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, will host a scam and identity theft seminar on Friday, Oct. 2, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Girard Alliance Church.

Guest speaker Alan McGill, senior supervisory special agent with the Office of the Attorney General, will share valuable information about common scams, the impacts of identity theft and how to keep your personal information secure.

“Last year, Pennsylvanians lost more than $76 million to scammers – and these fraudsters are using new technologies and methods every day to steal people’s money and identities,” Banta said. “I’m pleased to host this event again because the best way to protect ourselves from being victims of these scams is to know what they look like and what we need to be cautious of.”

The Girard Alliance Church is located at 229 Rice Ave. in Girard. The event is completely free and no registration is required. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Girard district office at 814-774-3105.
